More advanced end users should familiarise themselves with the pattern matching offered by the database. In its simplest form, ForestSafe pattern matching follows the same standard as the normal Windows pattern matching. The ‘*’ character is a wildcard.
But to get the most from of the system, especially users of the Reporting web page, ForestSafe also supports the rich pattern matching offered by SQL. This guide explains the SQL pattern matching in Appendix A: Pattern Matching.
Note – Pattern matching the path using ‘*’
The Organisation Unit (OU) path of every computer account is stored in the ForestSafe database. This path may be used when selecting groups of computers in various reports and user actions.
