If you wish ForestSafe to send approval emails alerts but your organisation does not have use of an SMTP server, you may configure one on the ForestSafe Express Server.
Installing SMTP Server on the ForestSafe Express Server:
1. On the server check add the IIS 6 Management Compatibility role and everything underneath in Web Server Roles.
2. Finish installing the Web Server role as normal.
3. Highlight Features (still in Server Manager):
4. Click on Add Features on the right. In the list that appears, check SMTP Server:
5. Follow the steps to install SMTP. It will prompt you about the Web Server role again - keep clicking Next.
6. Verify SMTP is installed and running in Services
7. In IIS manager, select ForestSafe on the left. Open up SMTP E-Mail on the right:
8. Enter a noreply email address for your organisation in the E-mail address.
9. Under Deliver email to SMTP server check the Use Localhost.
10. Leave the other settings and click Apply on the right:
11. Open IIS 6.0 from the Start Menu. Expand the machine name to show the SMTP server:
12. Right-click on the SMTP server and select Properties.
- On the Access tab, select Relay.
- Ensure Only the list below is selected.
- Enter 127.0.0.1 in the list.
13. Click OK and apply
14. Right-click on the SMTP server and click Stop then Start.
15. Go back into IIS 7 and highlight the ForestSafe website. Click restart on the right
16. Remember to enable ForestSafe to use SMTP.
