Local Passwords and Shared account Passwords can be retrieved throuhg a browser session. Internally the behaviour of the system is different as Local Windows accounts never suffer from synchronisation issues. However every Shared Account System entry has to be processed successfully or the passwords will not be synchronised.
ForestSafe always carries out password setting on every Shared Account System type. If one of the systems fails (e.g. the computer is switched off) then that System Item will fail, and the overall Shared Account also fails. The system will then continually retry the failed system, until it is successful. (e.g. The computer is powered on)
Monitoring password use
ForestSafe can be configured that following password retrieval, the account is automatically polled by ForestSafe and if the account has not logged on for an allocated time period, it gets SCRAMBLED. Companies may wish to passively monitor when accounts are logged in.
ForestSafe Account Password Use Monitoring is configured through Global Settings. A chart on the dashboard shows in real time when allocated accounts have logged in or been expired by the system.
Verifying passwords
The system can be configured to constantly test the expected password, and post a warning to a chart on the dashboard if it changes.
ForestSafe Account Password verification is configured through Global Settings.
